Breast Cancer: Take precautions early in life

Breast cancer is an endemic disease and 77% of all new breast cancer cases occur in women who are 50 or older. So it is imperative for all women to learn how to actively maintain and monitor your breast health. In the same breath, fully be aware of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. The reason is that breast cancer is considered a heterogeneous disease, in other words it is a different disease in different women, a different disease in different age groups and has different cell populations within the tumor itself. And generally, it is much more aggressive disease in younger women.

We should concentrate on symptoms of breast cancer right from the beginning so that the disease can be nipped in the bud. The signs and symptoms of breast cancer are; when you touch breast affected with cancer, it will feel warm. Such a breast always feels warm and sometimes-even warmer. Moreover, the whole breast can look red and inflamed and can be very sore. The skin sometimes looks like orange peel because the pores stand out in the inflamed area. All these are signs of inflammatory breast cancer. To get clear picture, visit your doctor who will better evaluate breast that is red or blotchy, even having a rash-like appearance.

If your breast feels itchy that too quite often of late, don’t ignore it. Either it is Itchy breasts or itchy nipples. Both these symptoms are of breast cancer. Yet another symptom is if you are noticing flat or inverted nipples. One nipple of both depending upon whether cancer has struck in one breast or both is flat or inverted. Some girls have inverted nipples from birth. It’s a different case altogether and has nothing to do with breast cancer. Otherwise, you need to talk to your doctor to know the truth.

Whenever, you feel any changes in the size or shape of the breast and abnormal discharge from the nipple as well as can notice the skin around your breast is dimpled or gives a look of an orange peel. These are the signs of breast cancer. Besides that, it’s a normal tendency that a woman’s breast becomes swollen and tender during her normal menstrual cycle, but when such a thing stops to show for a long time, it need to be examined by a doctor. Women also should ideally be able to notice if there is a sudden increase in their breast size.

I can only say that under such circumstances you better visit a qualified doctor and have breast examined. Only doctors can suggest a combination of treatments by evaluating the severity of the cancer.
